All members of the Mays Football Team agree on one thing; the game against Douglass will be entertaining for the fans. A game they expect to win and bounce back from their previous loss against Langston Hughes. Quarterback #12 Jaylen Wyatt “Expects a long, hard, and hot game against Doug because winning is all that matters in this rivalry match-up.” Savion Husband, #5, agrees but also points out that the passion for the game is why they care so much about winning. Head Coach Reginald Austin feels Douglass going to the internet about the rivalry is motivation and loves it for the team

Mays kept quiet when Douglass went to the internet to do a lot of talking the week of the game and showed the rival team who was truly on top as they pulled through the game last Saturday. Clayton Coppock #1 mentioned Douglass’ players behaved childishly and told them to come ready to play. Head Coach Reginald Austin believes that the football players at Douglass going to the internet about the rivalry is motivation for the team, and team captain Cam’ron Barber echoes this sentiment. He said  “All the talking that Mays will do is going to be on the field between the whistle,” and it was. The Raiders came off to a slow start, thanks to #10, Kamari Johnson, they were able to score their first touchdown in the 1st half. During the game, the Raiders missed two critical balls that could have placed them at least 20 points over the Astros.

Jamarion Dowdell, #6, closes out the game as he scored the game-winning touchdown. It was a tough game, as the Raiders predicted, from the Raiders leading in the first quarter to being tied 13-13 for almost the entire third quarter, but the Raiders pulled through in the end. Congratulations to the Mays High Raiders, winning against the Douglass Astros; scoring 20-19. A game well fought but, again congratulations to our Raiders.
