More than Music: The heart beat of Mays High School Benjamin E. Mays High School has long fostered a strong tradition of musical excellence with its band, chorus, and dance programs which all have made significant waves in the performing arts scene. These programs not only provide students with opportunities to develop their talents but also represent Mays High School proudly in community events and competitions.

One of the standout accomplishments came from the jazz orchestra in which they were selected to perform at the prestigious 10th Annual Youth Jazz Band Competition hosted by Georgia State University. Out of eight bands across the Atlanta metro area, the Mays jazz orchestra was one of six invited to open the Piedmont Park Festival during Memorial Day weekend.

The marching band has also received recognition through features in local media such as APS Today which highlighted their dynamic and performances. The band is one of the many groups who contribute to school spirit and community events at Mays High School. These recognitions reflect the hard work of both students and instructors in maintaining a vibrant and active music culture at the school.

Known for their precision, energy, and choreography the team frequently performs alongside the marching band at football games, pep rallies, and showcases. Their performances blend elements of hip-hop, jazz, and modern dance, which never fail when elevating school spirit. Under the guidance of an amazing hard working coach the dance team creates confidence and creativity that uplifts every girl just from watching. Mays High School's dance team and their counterparts (flag team) instill values that shape students both on and off the stage.
